GARY MCDONALD was sent off for celebrating Aberdeen's equaliser against Motherwell but his team-mates held on to save manager Mark McGhee from defeat on his return to Fir Park.
The midfielder headed home midway through the second half after Motherwell goalkeeper John Ruddy had looked set to defy Aberdeen's attempts to equalise Lukas Jutkiewicz's early opener.

Winger Chris Humphrey, however, will miss the match with the serious ankle injury that looks like keeping him out until January at the earliest.

MOTHERWELL starlet Chris Humphrey could be out until the new year as he struggles to overcome an ankle injury.
The 22-year-old limped off in the closing stages of the 2-2 draw against Hamilton before the international break.

Jim Gannon's youthful Motherwell side twice came from behind in a thrilling second half to snatch a 2-2 draw deny St Johnstone victory on their return to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
Murray Davidson's deflected effort gave the Irn-Bru First Division champions a deserved half-time lead but Shaun Hutchinson headed his first senior goal to level.
Graham Gartland soon scrambled Saints back into the lead but Ross Forbes earned Gannon a point on his SPL debut with a wonderful long-range strike.
