GARY MCDONALD was sent off for celebrating Aberdeen's equaliser against Motherwell but his team-mates held on to save manager Mark McGhee from defeat on his return to Fir Park. The midfielder headed home midway through the second half after Motherwell goalkeeper John Ruddy had looked set to defy Aberdeen's attempts to equalise Lukas Jutkiewicz's early opener. McDonald received a second yellow card for lifting his shirt over his head but it was the 10 men who came closest to claiming all three Clydesdal  

Stevie Hammell, Yassin Moutaouakil and John Ruddy are all in contention to return for Motherwell against Aberdeen. The trio are all now fit and will come into Jim Gannon's thinking ahead of the clash with the Dons. Winger Chris Humphrey, however, will miss the match with the serious ankle injury that looks like keeping him out until January at the earliest. Shaun Hutchinson Darren Smith, Paul Slane and Marc Fitzpatrick are all unavailable.  

MOTHERWELL starlet Chris Humphrey could be out until the new year as he struggles to overcome an ankle injury. Motherwell left-back Stevie Hammell has a hamstring strain and is out of Saturday's Lanarkshire derby against Hamilton. The defender will not be risked ahead of the international break and Paul Slane will also miss out because of a calf injury. Glenn Loovens will miss Celtic's SPL match against Motherwell due to suspension after losing his appeal against a red card this week. Gary Caldwell is expected to replace the Dutchman and partner Steven McManus in the Celtic defence. Andreas Hinkel and Danny Fox have been recovering from injury but Tony Mowbray has suggested he will not risk either player and allow them to make a full recovery in time for Thursday's Europa League match against Hamburg at Parkhead.  

Motherwell bounced-back from last weekend's defeat to Hibs with a narrow victory over Falkirk. Lukas Jutkiewicz scored the only goal of the game on 18 minutes as the Steelmen returned to winning ways at Fir Park. Jim Gannon made three changes to his side for the visit of the Bairns, handing Chris Humphrey his first league start of the season. Stephen Craigan and Jamie Murphy also returned to the team, with John Sutton, Jim O'Brien and Steven Saunders dropping to the bench.  

JIM Gannon enjoyed a memorable Fir Park debut as Motherwell strolled to a comfortable Clydesdale Bank Premier League triumph over Kilmarnock. John Sutton's well-taken goal got Motherwell off to a flying start and a Ross Forbes penalty increased their lead seconds before the interval. Defender Shaun Hutchinson made the points safe when he lashed home his second goal in successive games midway through the second half.  

Jim Gannon's youthful Motherwell side twice came from behind in a thrilling second half to snatch a 2-2 draw deny St Johnstone victory on their return to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. Murray Davidson's deflected effort gave the Irn-Bru First Division champions a deserved half-time lead but Shaun Hutchinson headed his first senior goal to level. Graham Gartland soon scrambled Saints back into the lead but Ross Forbes earned Gannon a point on his SPL debut with a wonderful long-range strike.
